Jules Lasalle completed his training in France after studying visual arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal. As well as participating in many exhibitions and sculpture symposiums, he has led the production workshop Attitudes enr. de Montréal since 1984. He has focused primarily on creating public art, namely monumental works that pay tribute to historical and popular figures. These include Jackie Robinson (Olympic Stadium, Montreal, 1987), Hommage à Marguerite Bourgeoys (Old Montreal, 1988), Monument à Maurice Richard (Parc Jacques-Cartier, Gatineau, 2001) and Monument à Robert Bourassa (Parliament Hill, Quebec City, 2006). Located in public parks, his more schematized works include Monica (1985) and Natasha (1986) in the Lachine borough alongside the St Lawrence River.
