A co-founder of the arts department at the Cégep de Sept-Îles, Katie Vibert holds Bachelor’s degrees in visual arts and art education from Université Laval. With a particular interest in monumental sculpture, she has created around fifteen murals and large-scale works through projects for the integration of art into architecture and the environment. She has also participated in solo and group shows across Quebec and won a number of awards, including the 2010 Prix à la Création en région, presented during a ceremony at the Musée régional de la Côte-Nord. Socio-geographic context and the interrelation between individuals are central elements in Vibert’s work, as observed in the modular sculpture she completed for Quebec City’s Sacré-Cœur library (2013). Displayed in the entrance to the building, the hanging sculpture comprises pictograms and digital images etched onto supporting clay and aluminum pieces.
