TROTTIER, Monique (1948)

Monique Trottier holds a Certificate in creativity and a BFA (1986). Between 1985 and 1993, she completed various professional development internships, notably training at the Banff Centre, and taught psychoeducation at the Université de Sherbrooke. Since 1988, she has taken part in many solo and group exhibitions, including two international textile art biennales. For more than twenty years, Trottier has been working with handmade paper produced by shredding old items of clothing. Her pieces consequently possess both social and environmental undertones, as demonstrated in Papier identité (1990) and La mémoire des lieux (1993). Cendres et lumière is a more recent installation in which she incorporates video.
