Diane T. Tremblay holds an MFA in visual arts. She was co-director of the DARE-DARE gallery from 1985 to 1990 and has been teaching at the Cégep André-Laurendau since 1992. Reminiscent of arte povera, her use of everyday, rather than noble, materials conveys a social message while defying the traditional separation of artistic genres. Some of her work, for example, features structures made from clothing that has been dyed and cut into pieces; displayed either on the wall or spread out on the ground, they are intended as reminders of the tyranny of cultural and aesthetic appearances.
