READE, Cyril (1952)

Cyril Reade has taught at Cégep Lévis-Lauzon, Concordia University, Western University and Toronto’s Collège Français. In 1998, he returned to his studies and obtained an MFA in art and art history from Rochester University, where he later taught from 2000 to 2001, and a Certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies (2001). In the 1980s, as demonstrated by his Faux cadres series, Reade focused on using salvaged materials. To a certain degree, his approach ever since has provided a counterpoint to his previous work, namely through his choice of luxurious materials and the refinement and organization of his forms, which are often items of furniture integrated into outdoor and indoor installations.
