PROULX, Karol (1946)

Karol Proulx, Élévation vers une conscience universelle, 1977. Centre-ville d’Arvida, Saguenay.

Karol Proulx studied multimedia at Cégep Maisonneuve, specializing in 3D. He is a cofounder both of L’Arche, a gallery in Jonquière (1973), and of the Espace global gallery in Montreal (1981), and a former general manager of Centre Copie-Art in Montreal (1998-1999). In his work, he alternately uses direct carving (aluminum, stone, glass), the manipulation of two-way mirrors, neon lights, 3D modelling and multimedia. At the intersection of art and technology, his “multimedia sculptures” aim to question the initiatory acquisition of knowledge in an ever-changing context.
