Mireille Plamondon studied visual arts at Université Laval (1984), the Université de Montréal (1985) and the Université du Québec à Montréal (BFA, 1986 and MFA, 1995). In 1994, she was invited for a stay at the Contemporary Art Network in Tokyo. Between 1995 and 1999, she taught at several colleges and universities while continuing to participate in solo and group exhibitions in Canada, France and Japan. Displayed on the ground or hung from the ceiling, her sculptures are composed of everyday objects and materials such as rope, fabric, wax, cotton wool and pieces of metal similar to kitchen utensils, all assembled like the impromptu forts that children fashion from whatever items they can find.
