After studying at the National Theatre School of Canada, Marie-Christiane Mathieu worked as an intern at the New York Holographic Laboratories from 1982 to 1988. She completed several holographic projects for the National Film Board of Canada before returning to school, earning an MA (1997) and a PhD in the study and practice of art (2004) from the Université du Québec à Montréal. A professor at Université Laval’s School of Visual Arts since 2008, she has received numerous awards and grants and is among the very rare specialists of holographic art in Quebec, authoring both installations and critical texts.
