René Loubier holds a BFA from the Université du Québec à Montréal (1983) and spent twenty-seven years as an art teacher for the Chomedey de Laval school board. He trained in sculpture at Atelier Sculpt and was a member of Atelier 213, where he served as director from 2008 to 2012. In addition to monumental sculptures in stone, bronze and marble, Loubier creates unusual ceramic spheres: highly colourful works that appear born of fanciful constellations. In 2010, he took part in an Atelier 213 sculpture symposium held at the Laval cemetery.
