Kathryn Lipke Vigesaa has a BSc from the University of North Dakota (1962) and an MA from the University of California, Berkeley. She taught in the fibre and textiles program of Concordia University’s department of fine arts (1977-1996) and has been a visiting professor at numerous universities and institutions around the world. She has greatly contributed to the rise of sculpture in Quebec, where she has also taken part in many sculpture symposiums. Her installations, which frequently incorporate video images, draw particular attention to the symbolic nature of their locations and consistently demonstrate a concern for protecting the natural environment.
