Michelle Lefort attended the Université de Montréal, earning Bachelor’s degrees in education (1971) and special education (1977) as well as a Certificate (1985) and a Master’s degree (1998) in fine arts. A fine arts teacher for several years, she has completed numerous studio internships, including with René Derouin, Françoise Sullivan and, more recently, Roger Langevin at the Université du Québec à Rimouski (2007). She has held about ten solo exhibitions and participated in some fifteen group shows in Montreal and surrounding regions. Notable examples of Lefort’s totemic works integrated into architecture are Le dépassement (2009) at Parc des Jardins de l’Anse in Sept-Îles and Veille (2013) at the Auberge-de-Pointe-ouest in Anticosti.
