LARIVIÈRE, Gilles (1946)

Gilles Larivière has an MFA in visual arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal and is a professor of visual arts at the Cégep de Sherbrooke. In addition to having participated in sculpture symposiums both in Quebec and abroad, he has received several awards such as the Prix Confrontation from the Conseil de la Sculpture du Québec (1985) and a special mention at the Duchamp-Villon competition, held at the Galerie d’art du Cégep Édouard-Montpetit (1988). His work, in which traditional and contemporary techniques coexist, combines elements that are figurative and abstract, intimist and monumental, sacred and profane.
