LAPORTE, Lucie (1946-1994)

Lucie Laporte participated in the 1980 exhibition Portes gravées et Espace imaginaire at the Musée d’art contemporain in Montreal’s Cité du Havre neighbourhood. In her works, she sought to recreate the ritual of gesture and thereby revive forgotten values. In 1982, her works were included in Tridimensions-elles, an exhibition at the Galerie de UQAM. She presented engraved doors with archaic connotations and sculpture-doors – shamanistic totems opening onto other worlds.
