LABBÉ, Michel (1944)

Painter and sculptor Michel Labbé taught at Université Laval’s School of Visual Arts from 1970 to 2000. His work, which has been exhibited in museums throughout Quebec as well as in galleries in Europe and Japan, may currently be found in numerous public collections, including at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent. Labbé’s abstract, highly structured pieces reflect a marked interest in the distribution of colour in space. He regularly exhibits his work at La Chambre Blanche and l’Œil de Poisson in Quebec City.
