A professor at Concordia University, Danica Jojich explores visual arts through sculpture, installation and performance art. Her often provocative work broaches themes such as AIDS, war, homelessness, motherhood and hunger. Fucking Reduction (1992), for example, consisted of two display baskets that might be used to hold merchandise in a supermarket. One was filled with condoms while the other contained flyers that read “Fucking Reduction/wearable sculpture/for personal protection/in honour of all those we lost.” On a sign above the baskets were the words “Reduce this sculpture/help yourself.”
