Multidisciplinary artist Jacques Hudon completed university studies in art and graphic design. He has held a number of solo exhibitions, including in 2002 at the Musée Pierre-Boucher, and participated in numerous group shows in Quebec, the United States, Asia and Europe. As demonstrated in 2009 at the Musée de Charlevoix and in 2014 at the Centre d’exposition de Val-d’or, Hudon draws inspiration from writers to create box-sculptures in honour of works of Quebec literature. Using the technique of cardboard crafting (cartonnage), he combines sculpture, painting and collage to make “word boxes”; in addition to paper and base board, these comprise photos, texts, poems, artist’s books or symbolic objects such as toy soldiers, beer corks or pieces of wood. Hudon has also completed projects for the integration of art into architecture, including works at the Quebec City aquarium, the Neufchâtel Library and the Alain-Grandbois Library in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures.
