Based in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Denys Heppell uses wood and fibreglass to create figurative, stylized and abstract sculptures, some of which are later replicated in a stone powder known as hydrostone. His projects have included the Claude Hardy Award for the Canada Games, sculptures used in advertising (a moose for the Moose Motel, a cow for Ferme JeanMarieFrance, etc.) and a monumental work in the town of Hearst (Ontario) that depicts a standoff between two moose and a pair of wolves (2002).
