GAGNON, Victoire

Victoire Gagnon graduated with a BFA from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in 1982. The following year, she received a special mention at the Prix Albert-Rousseau (Moulin des Arts). She served on the board of directors at Atelier Silex during the 1990s, and her work has been exhibited in Trois-Rivières, Montreal, Toronto and Kelowna (BC). She also took part in Exposition du Québec, sponsored by the Quebec government, and Sculpture en ville, an event held in Trois-Rivières in 1989. Light and sacredness are the principal themes in her work, which features stone, marble, limestone, slate and alabaster, for its translucency. In the fall of 1992, for example, she explored sacredness through an on-site installation of rocks in the mountains of Sutton.
