Johanne Gagnon completed a Master’s degree in visual arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1991. In addition to teaching, she has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions in Quebec and across Canada, exploring the gesture of artistic creation through architectural projects. In 1995, for example, she presented Objet de projection at Galerie La Centrale; comprised of drawings and maquettes, the exhibition turned domestic architecture into a world of fantasy and dreams, offering a kind of archaeology of idealized living space from a poetic perspective. Gagnon is a co-founder of Galerie B-312, where she served as director from 1990 to 1997.
