Pierre Fournier completed an MFA at the Université du Québec à Montréal. He has exhibited his work both in Quebec and in France, notably at Galerie Christiane Chassay, Galerie Occurence, the Saidye Bronfman Centre, and the electronic arts festivals in Rennes and Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. His pieces comprise somewhat peculiar objects, displayed either in suspension or simply on the ground. In 1986, for example, he presented Acoustique, personnel, système (“acoustic, personal, system”), an exhibition featuring interactive works that were part sculpture, part installation, part musical instrument, part technological gadget. Fournier’s interest in music has also inspired him to give performances using electro-acoustic instruments, namely at the Galerie de l’UQAM (1989), the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (1987), the Music Gallery in Toronto (1987) and the Festival de musiques actuelles in Victoriaville (1987).
