Lucie Duval graduated from the École des beaux-arts de Toulouse in 1983. Featuring a range of materials and techniques, her work centres on words and their paradoxical relationship with objects and images. She was invited to participate in the 2004 edition of Artefact Montréal – Urban Sculptures on Mount Royal and has shown her work in many solo and group exhibitions. Her projects for the integration of art into architecture include Mots choisis (“chosen words”) at Montreal’s CLSC Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (2002) and À la croisée des mots (“at the cross-words”) at Bibliothèque Georges-Vanier, where a spiral of words evokes the building’s historical value as Canada’s oldest francophone public library.
