Richard Cyr was a sculptor and professional photographer. During the 1980s, he studied fine arts at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville and at the Université de Sherbrooke. He was actively involved with RACE (Regroupement des artistes des Cantons de l’Est) as a cultural facilitator right up until his death in 1998. La flamme (1997), one of his public sculptures, depicts a flickering candle and is located in Rivière-du-Loup.
