Though he studied fine arts at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and completed a practical internship in theatre at Université Laval (1995-1996), Clément Côté considers himself self-taught and has participated in several solo and group exhibitions. He is highly involved in the artistic community in a range of capacities: lecturer, art workshop facilitator and symposium guest, as well as actor, author, composer and performer. He is also a board member of the Regroupement des artists en arts visuels du Québec (RAAV) and organizer of the 2005 Carrefour Culture. Côté works primarily with cedar shingles and explores the theme of time through works that resemble dwelling places, shelters or small boats, blurring the line between sculpture and architecture. In 2002, he created an architecturally integrated work entitled La persistance dans l’azur du temps at the Centre de formation professionnelle in Sainte-Marie.
