CLOUTIER, Gilles-Jacques (also Gil-Jacques) (1947-2014)

Gilles-Jacques Cloutier attended the École de sculpture established by his mentor, Jean-Julien Bourgault. While his preferred themes are Greek and Roman deities, his most famous piece, sculpted from a cedar burl, is Braconnier (“poacher”). Some of Cloutier’s work is housed at the Musée des Anciens Canadiens in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.
