BRULOTTE, Chantal

Chantal Brulotte holds an MFA in visual and media arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal. An active part of Quebec’s sculpture and installation art scene for more than twenty years, she has exhibited her work at the Marie-Louise Ferrari Gallery in Mexico and at Atelier Silex in Trois-Rivières. Since 2001, she has also been the director of GRAVE centre in Victoriaville. Brulotte explores the theme of vulnerability in her work, particularly through the use of the shelter, an ephemeral architectural structure. The work Coupole, for example, recalls certain primitive dwellings such as Inuit igloos or the homes of people in Africa and South America. A teacher at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy, Brulotte was awarded the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec’s Prix à la création artistique en région in 2002 and 2008. She has also received the Prix arts visuels of the Conseil de développement culturel du Centre-du-Québec.
