Benoît Bourdeau studied art at the Cégep de Saint-Laurent (1975-1978), later completing a BFA in visual arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal (1986). He is an illustrator, art consultant, Webmaster and computer graphics artist, notably for Le dictionnaire thématique visuel published by Québec-Amérique. He has also carried out several stage and lighting designs for various productions, including for Nathalie Derome. A founding member of Galerie Clark and the company Des mots d’la dynamite, he has presented his work in numerous exhibitions such as Champs magnétiques (1993-1994) at the Maison de la culture Côte-des-Neiges. His approach has involved putting a twist on everyday objects, as seen in Panaroma, for which he reproduced a piece of furniture and carefully burned it with at torch to create a scene of destruction, while on the walls, a magic eye enabled one to look inside and contemplate an idyllic view.
