From 1988 to 1993, Denise Bouchard produced works on the theme of the human body, particularly high-relief sculptures of women’s bodies that challenged traditional masculine/feminine relationships. Others featured erotic scenes from the history of the female form, as demonstrated by works shown in the exhibitions Contrainte par corps at the Galerie d’art du Collège Édouard-Montpetit and Peaux-Mémoires at Expression, Centre d’exposition de Saint-Hyacinthe (1993). In 1999, Bouchard presented Histoire de peau at the Centre des arts contemporains du Québec à Montréal.
