Laurent Bonet attended the École Supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris and the École Supérieure des arts appliqués in addition to studying with his father, Jordi Bonet. He is interested in cabinetmaking and has worked in set design workshops for film productions as a sculptor, moulder and painter. In sculpture, he attempts to make entirely ordinary objects “speak,” such as highly baroque table-sculptures in which he combines wood, metal, resin and plaster. He incorporates sculpted faces that wear many expressions as well as incongruous assemblages in which the notions of beauty and ugliness or good and bad are tied to numerous mythical symbols. Bonet is a founding member of the PARA group and a cosignatory of the Pararéaliste art manifesto. In 2011, the Musée des beaux-arts de Mont-Saint-Hilaire presented an extensive exhibition of his work.
