Gilles Boisvert studied at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal (1958-1960) and took courses with Albert Dumouchel from 1961 to 1964. Known primarily for his drawings, murals, lithographs and paintings, he presented an “environment” at the Présence des Jeunes exhibition in 1966. As well as being interested in theatre décor and film animation, Boisvert has produced work for the integration of art into architecture program, including for Vanier College in 1986 and for Montreal’s Radio-Canada building in 1973. One of his sculptures, Vire au vent, which was created for the Symposium de Lachine in 1988, is now part of the Musée Plein Air de Lachine. He has pursued his career internationally with more than one hundred major exhibitions in the United States, France and Germany. He has also participated in the International Contemporary Art Fair in Paris and Art Basel, an international art fair in Switzerland.
