After studies in Rimouski, Chantal Beaulieu attended the Université de Montréal, completing a Master’s degree in photography and visual arts. In 2000, she presented an exhibition at Espace Virtuel entitled Gravité, describing it as “a nod to the pointlessness and seriousness of artwork.” One of a kind or part of a series, her works are made using transformed practical objects. One series, for example, features ten small wooden frames that each enclose a tie, the end of which is curled up in a spiral toward the knot, creating a twist in meaning.
