Céline Baril received a BFA from the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1982. She began her career with works that combined sculpture, photography and video before eventually turning to cinema. Between 1989 and 1997, she produced three experimental films: Barcelone, La fourmi et le volcan and L’absent. The first two were part of eponymous art installations that featured projections, photographs and sculpture. They were presented in several galleries, including at the Musée régional de Rimouski in 1993-1994.
