Holder of a Bachelor of Arts (1974) from McGill Univerity, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Studio (1983) and a Master of Arts (2005) from Concordia University, Claudine Ascher explores sculpture, drawing, performance art, dance and theatre throughout her career. As well as her involvement with teaching, she works as an exhibition curator and serves as director and curator at Galerie de la Ville in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Her works integrated into architecture include pieces at the Polyvalente secondaire de Pierrefonds (1994) and the Polyvalente Marcel-Landry in Iberville (1996). As a sculptor, she favours figurative ceramic pieces of a highly expressionist quality, presenting a colourful range of characters with an often baroque and surrealist appearance.
